Tracy Newton is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over eleven years’ experience.  Tracy’s counseling utilizes a psychodynamic approach focusing on how the influences of the past affect the decisions and interactions you are having today.  Her counseling utilizes interactive, experiential , and cognitive behavioral techniques.  Tracy believes that effective therapy is collaboration between the client and therapist.  Her job is to “work her self out of a job.”  She strives to teach clients how to better help themselves.

Growing up in the Dallas Metroplex, Tracy always knew she wanted to work to help others.  As an adolescent, Tracy volunteered during her junior and senior years as a peer counselor to fellow teens.  This experience was so significant to Tracy, that she decided she wanted to be a professional counselor.  Tracy received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology and her Masters’ degree in Counseling, both from the University of North Texas.

Tracy completed her school internship at New Beginning Center, a domestic violence agency in Garland, Texas.  Tracy then went on to work at the domestic violence agency, The Family Place in Dallas, Texas.  At the Family Place, Tracy worked as an Adult Women’s Counselor.  After a couple of years, Tracy wanted to expand her experience, and received addictions experience at Nexus Recovery Center.  After gaining this experience, Tracy went back to the Family Place and became the Assistant Director of The Family Place’s Metrocrest Area Outreach Office.

In this position, Tracy developed the agency’s school-based teen dating violence program, S.T.A.R.T..  This program was designed to teach a core group teens how to help their peers who may be victims of teen dating violence.  This program allows teens to be peer counselors, just as Tracy was as an adolescent.

Due to this program’s immense popularity in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, Coppell ISD, and Highland Park ISD, a position of Director of Youth Education and Prevention Services was created. In this position, Tracy expanded the focus on prevention by developing a Bullyproof Program in the elementary schools, and implementing a sexual assault prevention program in the middle schools.

In Tracy’s private practice, she counsels individuals, couples, and families dealing with stress, anxiety, addictions, grief, and depression.  Tracy’s professional experience has focused on working with victims of trauma and domestic violence.  In addition, Tracy has a great deal of experience working with adolescents and educating the public on healthy relationships and healthy communication.  Tracy is
an approved board supervisor of Licensed Professional Counselor interns.
Tracy enjoys spending time with her husband of fourteen years and young daughter.
